Best Age: This depends on a patients growth and development. Most children begin braces between 10 -13 years of age. Dr. Schwartz advises a free orthodontic screening at age 8 - 9 to rule out any early bite problems. Being dual-trained in both orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, Dr. Schwartz is expertly trained in the most effective early treatment procedures.

Which Brace System: There are many brace systems available. The most common is the traditional system [Edgewise] which Dr. Schwartz has successfully used for over 20 years. In recent years, there have been significant advancements in orthodontic technology. After careful research, Dr. Schwartz has decided to specialize in and offer patients the innovative Damon Brace System.

The Damon Brace System:  Dr. Schwartz has been offering the Damon System to his patients because he feels it provides significant benefits and advantages that cannot be obtained with traditional braces. He has found that due to the low friction between the Damon brace and wire, much less force is needed to move teeth. Consequently, our Damon patients enjoy greater comfort as their teeth move. With less friction, teeth move more efficiently making treatment times significantly shorter. Also, it is rarely necessary to use palate expanders or headgears with Damon.

Extraction of Teeth: Over his 25 years of caring for patients, Dr. Schwartz has always been a strong advocate of using Non-extraction procedures to save teeth. Using the Damon System, he has found he can make more space and treat more patients with Non-extraction orthodontics than any other brace system.

Fees: The cost of treatment will vary with the complexity of the case. There is no additional charge to use the Damon System. The fee for the Damon System is the same as the fee for traditional braces and in some cases the Damon System results in overall lower treatment costs.
